The Zoom H-1 I recently purchased is truly amazing but it also ate up its single AA battery as if it were starving for a treat. I sent it back under warranty and Zoom / Samson Electronics as much as admitted to me that there was a problem with power consumption in some of these H-2 recorders.

I now await its replacement.

Note that Tascam as launched its own “under a c-note” digital recorder in competition, but a bit late.
